Project Benefits

Prairie Mist is a solar energy project currently under construction that will provide clean, low-cost energy, generate new jobs, and provide additional local tax contributions and environmental benefits for the surrounding community. Prairie Mist Solar will provide the following benefits:

Preserving Rural Lands

Prairie Mist Solar will encompass approximately 700 acres of rural lands with low-impact solar installation, generating tax revenues through production for an estimated 30+ years. The property owners will maintain ownership of the land and receive lease payments during the Project’s lifetime.

Employment and Professional Development

Prairie Mist Solar will bring up to 100 jobs to Ashley County during peak construction periods, as well as full-time jobs to support the ongoing operations and maintenance of the project. Primergy projects focus on utilizing regional vendors to bolster the local economy.

Tax and Revenue Sharing

Prairie Mist Solar is expected to contribute an estimated $10 million in additional property tax payments over a 30-year period. These payments will directly benefit local schools and provide Ashley County with additional resources that may be directed toward public safety, road upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.

Environment and Grid Resiliency

Prairie Mist Solar will generate up to 100 MWac, which is enough clean reliable energy to power approximately 22,000 homes annually. Electricity generated with solar panels emits no greenhouse gases and no air or water pollutants. Primergy is committed to enhancing Arkansas’s energy mix and independence with clean, local projects such as Prairie Mist Solar.

FAQs

When will Prairie Mist Solar be under construction and how long will it take to complete construction?

Prairie Mist Solar began construction in 2023 and will take approximately 12-18 months to complete and begin delivering clean, low-cost solar energy.

How are solar projects safely monitored?

Primergy Solar takes all measures to ensure safe operations. The Project will be overseen by a dedicated on-site operations and maintenance team, complemented by round-the-clock monitoring, to ensure awareness of ongoings at the site at all times.

Is solar energy expensive?

Costs to operate are minimal because sunlight is delivered free to the Project daily.

The cost of solar projects has decreased by 60% over the last decade,[1] and in 2020, solar officially became less expensive than coal and gas.[2]. In 2021, 54% of new generation projects installed in the United States were solar.[3]

How do I share information about land I own that might qualify for future solar projects?

Primergy Solar would be happy to hear from you! We typically are interested in properties 10 acres or larger as a typical solar energy facility requires 8 acres of land for every MW of solar energy generated. Ideal properties are located nearby electric lines and substations. Please contact land@primergysolar.com to see if your property fits our needs.

How do I get in touch with Primergy Solar with questions, concerns or comments?
