Project Benefits

Ash Creek is a solar energy project currently under construction in Penelope and Abbott in Hill County, Texas. The Project will provide clean, low-cost energy, generate new jobs, and provide significant local tax contributions and environmental benefits for the surrounding community. Ash Creek Solar has made commitments to provide the following benefits:

Preserving Rural Lands

Ash Creek Solar will encompass approximately 3,480 acres of rural lands with low-impact solar installation, generating tax revenues through production for an estimated 30+ years. The property owners will collect lease payments for use of their land during the Project’s lifetime. Through their partnerships with Primergy, landowners will earn a cumulative total of $1M-2M in lease payments each year.

Employment and Professional Development

Ash Creek Solar will bring approximately 250 full-time equivalent construction jobs to Hill County, with 350 jobs during peak construction periods, as well as an estimated six full-time jobs to support the ongoing operations and maintenance of the Project. The Project will generate opportunities for professional development including local recruitment, engineering teaching programs, and on-the-job training. Primergy projects focus on utilizing regional vendors to bolster the local economy.

Tax Payments

Ash Creek Solar is expected to contribute an estimated $80 million in additional tax payments over a 30-year period. These payments will directly benefit local schools and provide Hill County with substantial resources that may be directed towards public safety, road upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.

Environment and Grid Resiliency

Ash Creek Solar will generate up to 408 MWac, which is enough clean reliable energy to power approximately 90,000 homes annually. Electricity generated with solar panels emits no greenhouse gases and no air or water pollutants. Primergy is committed to enhancing Texas’ energy mix and independence with clean, local projects such as Ash Creek Solar.

FAQs

When will Ash Creek Solar be under construction and how long will it take to complete construction?

Ash Creek Solar began construction in 2024 and will take approximately 12-18 months to complete and begin delivering clean, low-cost solar energy.

How are solar projects safely monitored?

Primergy Solar takes all measures to ensure safe operations. The Project will be overseen by a dedicated on-site operations and maintenance team, complemented by round-the-clock monitoring, to ensure awareness of ongoings at the site at all times.

Is solar energy expensive?

Costs to operate are minimal because sunlight is delivered free to the Project daily.

The cost of solar projects has decreased by more than 60% over the last decade[1], and in 2020, solar officially became less expensive than coal and gas.[2] In 2021, 54% of new generation projects installed in the United States were solar.[3]

How do I share information about land I own that might qualify for future solar projects?

Primergy Solar would be happy to hear from you! We typically are interested in properties 10 acres or larger as a typical solar energy facility requires 8 acres of land for every MW of solar energy generated. Ideal properties are located nearby electric lines and substations. Please contact land@primergysolar.com to see if your property fits our needs.

How do I get in touch with Primergy Solar with questions, concerns or comments?

Primergy appreciates your questions and comments. Please email ashcreek@primergysolar.com and we will get back to you!
